Coconut oil is full of healthy benefits? Lose weight with Coconut Oil?

Well, Kevin Trudeau says so! You know Kevin Trudeau, bestselling author of ‘Natural Cures “They” Don’t want you to know about’ and ‘Natural “cures” Revealed’.

In his book, ‘Natural “cures” Revealed’ chapter 9 ‘Weight Loss Secrets’, he says that unrefined, pure, organic, virgin coconut oil is a product that falls in that “miraculous” category and that all you have to do is take one tablespoonful in the morning and one tablespoonful in the late afternoon, everyday for thirty days.

You will not only loose weight but high blood pressure can be a thing of the past, circulation problems vanish, mood swings gone, depression lifted, constipation cured. Also arthritis pain reduced or eliminated, cancer in remission, cholesterol normalized, and acid reflux diminished or gone forever.

Wow! Have I found a miracle? I’ll let you know as I’m about to quit smoking and am bound to gain at least ten pounds or more. I guess a little coconut milk with my nicorette gum won’t hurt. I’m also going to tell a very fat friend of mine about coconut oil, we’ll see how much it helps her.

Since I have several of the conditions that Kevin Trudeau says that coconut oil will cure, I decided to research this a little further. Here’s what I found, judge for your self.

Coconut oil has fatty acids such as lauric acid and monoglycerides.

When lauric acid is consumed in the body, it enhances the immune system to help the body fight infections, diseases, bad bacteria and yeast invasions. Lauric acid is known to be anti-viral, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial.

Coconut oil raises the metabolism, which helps people who are trying to lose weight and people suffering from thyroid problems. Coconut stabilizes the blood sugar levels, helping with diabetes. It also protects the heart cells from damage.

Coconut oil helps relieve the symptoms of menopause, and pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS). Many women who suffer the effects of PMS have found the symptoms lessened when coconut oil was consumed often in their diet.

Unlike refined vegetable oils, coconut oil does not become rancid easily. When oil becomes rancid it becomes toxic as it oxidizes and causes free-radical damage in the body.

The unsaturated oils in cooked foods can become rancid within hours of cooking it, even in the refrigerator. Coconut oil is so stable that it can be left a room temperature for at least a year, and it will not become rancid.

Since it is such a stable cooking oil, you can use coconut oil in place of other oils, margarine, butter and shortening, for all your cooking needs.

But what about saturated fat?

Coconut oil contains no trans fat (even olive oil has some trans fat). You can even use it on your skin to help prevent wrinkles.

Unfortunately, there is a widespread misconception that coconut oil is bad for you because it contains saturated fat.

Fats are categorized as either short-, medium-, or long-chain depending on how many carbon molecules they contain. Close to two-thirds of the saturated fat in coconut oil is made up of medium-chain fatty acids are easily digested by the body for quick energy, and are beneficial to the immune system. Far from being dangerous, the saturated fat in coconut oil is actually health promoting.

Based on some flawed studies performed over four decades ago, some of which used primarily hydrogenated coconut oils, a powerful anti-saturated fat movement began.

Remember–hydrogenated oils are oils with trans-fatty acids, which have been altered from their original chemical composition and have been shown to raise cholesterol levels and lead to heart disease and other health problems. You should not consume hydrogenated oils.

The edible oil industry began to denounce all saturated fats and heavily promote polyunsaturated fats such as canola, soybean, safflower, corn, and other seed and nut oils.

However, these oils easily become rancid when exposed to oxygen and produce large amounts of damaging free radicals in the body. What is not commonly known is that these oils can actually cause aging, clotting, inflammation, cancer and weight gain.

Like olive oil, which now the ‘experts’ agree is beneficial, coconut oil has health benefits and the saturated fat in both olive oil and coconut oil is beneficial.
