We all dream and since we dream every night the chance to establish a relationship with our deepest self are unlimited.

Dreams bring to consciousness our fears, strengths, weaknesses and desires. Dreams can provide an opportunity to resolve issues with others or help us overcome our grief. You can program your dreams to provide guidance and direction in troubled and uncertain times, as well as creating new possibilities in obtaining your goals.

Numerous psychotherapists are convinced that dreams can help you to identify and work through waking problems and concerns. The sleeping brain is sensitive to subtle influences and has incredible creative potential.

Steps for Dream Programming
![]()
Choose the right night. Choose a night when you are able to get a full night’s rest and one where you are not overly tired or have been drinking. Before going to sleep, write down a question you are seeking an answer to or a problem you are trying to solve, in your dream journal. By writing down your dream expectations you will trigger emotions that may inspire a dream. Be descriptive. Be emotional. Ask your dream self to provide insight to the problem or an answer to your question.

Repeat the question as you fall to sleep. Place your journal on the night stand beside your bed, turn out the light, and close your eyes. Repeat your question over and over. If your mind wanders, bring it back to your question. Expect an answer to your question. Know you will have an answer.

When you awaken, record your dreams. Record whatever you’re thinking when you awake. Learn to ask yourself , “What was I just dreaming?” Write in your journal every thought you have whether or not it is related to your question. Wait a few hours before analyzing your dream. Only after you have understood what your dream is about should you ask yourself whether it sheds new light on the dream request.

Make a commitment to record your dreams and thoughts in your dream journal for 30 days. Dreams start with the preoccupations we bring to bed each night. Any technique you use to focus on a particular problem or question during the day will help you to incubate a dream.

Remember that whatever you dream about constitutes an important issue in your life. With practice your dreams can provide healing and wholeness, be a source of inspiration, and help you to discard old habits. You can bring the dream’s insights into the conscious level of your mind.

Probably the hardest part of dream programming is remembering our dreams. You only need to practice, have faith, and make a commitment to record your dream for 30 days. The rewards are worth it!

Some people want advice on how to recall dreams, some want their dreams interpreted, or some want to discuss books or topics on dreaming. If you would be interested in participating, fill out the form below. I’m just trying to get a feel of the level of interest in keeping an online dream journal before starting one. Include any advice or suggestions you may have. Your email will be used for notification only.
